The Mk 48 Mod 7 CBASS heavyweight torpedo variant was tested today by an Australian submarine in the decommissioning of a U.S Navy Destroyer.

Advancements in sonar technology means that this torpedo is effective in shallow water, and even against counter-measures. And boy, is it effective: watch it sink the destroyer in seconds here.

What does this mean for the future of warfare? It certainly makes naval battles more interesting. The big question is where will this technology lead?
