I’m hoping to use Phone Gap to compile all my hardwork into a native app, so hopefully Apple doesn’t mind. I’m going to probably submit it by this time next week.

Stay tuned for more updates! Maybe even a sneak preview – email me if you want one.

I know this doesn’t make a terrible lot of sense, but that’s all part of the mystery.

If you don’t like something about yourself, nobody else will. That’s just the way it goes.

For example, I used to hate the fact that I have to have everything white and nice and symmetrical and neat. Look at my blog for example.

For months I tormented over choosing a colour theme, but I just couldn’t bring myself to decide on one colour. I couldn’t have blue, because it means I’m not red. I needed a single, all-encompassing colour that doesn’t promote any sort of colour bias.

So it was a toss up between black, white and grey. I ruled grey out because it was kind of a compromise between black and white, and I’m not a black kinda guy, so we have white. No fancy pictures or buttons, just simple and clean.

And my picture on the front page – I couldn’t just decide on ONE picture, so I made it randomly display one of 65 every time you reload the page.

And I HATED this about myself! What was wrong with me that I had to be like this? I noticed that people started not liking my new site design, too.

But recently, I’ve realised that if you can just learn to EMBRACE your weird and wonderful character traits, others will too.

Neat, tidy, simple, clean? Yep! That’s me, that’s Luke. Ask anyone – I’m not a colour kinda guy… (NOW READ MY BLOG!)

A friend of mine recently told me that though they read my wife’s blog, they don’t really ever read mine.

When asked why, the response was that Talia writes about fluffy, gossipy, fun stuff, while I write boring ideas about life, the universe, and everything like that.

So, I asked myself the question – what makes a good blogger? And I’ve come up with these five answers.

1. A focus

It’s good to have a particular topic or point or idea that you blog about.

2. A plan

You need to know where you are and where you’re going. You can’t blog if you’re not sure which way your life is headed.

3. An audience

Nobody reads a blog that they’re not interested in. Make sure your blog is targeted at a particular audience.

4. A style

Lets face it – as nice and clean as this blog is, nobody other than me likes the way it looks. People want something bright colourful and exciting. Style also extends to writing style – some people have a style of writing that is entertaining to read.

5. A reason

Regular updates are an important part of a successful blog, and if you have no reason to blog, you have no motivation to blog, and then you have no blog.

And so in light of this revelation of mine, I have decided to start a new blog, just as a trial, doing all the right things. It will be called The Life of Luke, and it will be bright and colourful and fluffy and gossipy and it will have a niche.

I’ll continue this one for those few who prefer to read something with a little substance.
