Busy

I’ve been so busy writing about The Universe, and Everything, that I’ve neglected writing about Life. So here’s a quick update.

I’m busy.

This week, for example, is jam packed. Monday I have uni all day, then netball at night. Tuesday is uni all day, Les Miserables at night. Wednesday working all day, Dinner with friends AND a church band meeting at night. Thursday is work, and Les Mis again at night. Friday I might take a bit of a break from work, and Youth at night.

Saturday I’m skydiving (my 21st birthday gift), in the morning, with a BBQ for lunch, and we’re going to an engagement party that night. Sunday, Church in the morning, and then going to see Santana(!) (another 21st pressie) that night.

Then start again on Monday.

I know that my readers are probably not going to be interested in all this - but understand that as a blogger I write blog posts for two reasons - readers entertainment and insights, and recording my own thoughts and life so I can look back on it all later.

One thing I don’t do very often is thank my readers - so thank you, everyone who regularly reads my blog, or has it bookmarked or in their RSS Reader.

Take it easy, and catch me later.

How to clean up Facebook

SpambookOnce a clean, fresh (if not so intuitive) MySpace alternative - now a spam ridden hell hole of useless applications. If you’re not met with a veritable plethora of applications each time you log in to Facebook, then you’re a minority. And if you don’t hit that damned ignore button at least 10 times a day - you might consider decalring Facebook bankrupsy, and creating a new account, to save yourself the hours of ignoring that are saved up waiting for you.

The question that came to mind yesterday is a question I’m sure many have pondered. Is it possible to take Facebook back to the “good-’ol-days” - before pirates, ninjas, warewolves, vampires, super-walls, scrabble, and any other application you could possibly be bothered to imagine?

The answer: Yes, and it’s not too hard. I like lists, here’s one to help you clean up your Facebook account.

Valentines Day ‘08I used to hate Valentines day.

I mean, I think most of us have, at one stage or another, had a gripe or two with this Hallmark Holiday. Of course, it’s different when you’re married, or in any sort of romantic relationship for that matter.

For the record, and your entertainment, here’s how me and Talia’s Valentines day went. (more…)

A personal approach

Click for a better view! This year I am involved with the church youth group.

One of my jobs as a youth leader is to be in charge of a small group of boys. It’s about building relationships with them, and mentoring them.

The guys I have are okay. I mean, there are a few of them that are a bit ratty. They’re still young (grade 8-9) and going through that whole ‘be cool in front of my friends’ stage. I guess when I really think about it, I got stuck with the ratty ones.

Here’s why I think it will be good though… (more…)

How often should you blog?

Google AnalyticsI read all my blogs once per day.

Often, I get quite annoyed when someone hasn’t updated their blog in a few days. It makes me loose interest in the blog, and I remove it from my list. Others only check their blogs maybe every second day, and might be too overwhelmed with blogs that are updated multiple times daily. With too much to read, the blog drops off their list.

My point is this: A key factor to retaining readers is knowing how often they check your blog for updates.

Here’s how to do it (It’s really easy).

Why I don’t like RSS

RSS ImageThose who know me know that I bookmark all my blogs, and read them everyday.

Some of my friends use a nifty little thing called RSS, which allows you to quickly view all the new posts from your favourite posts, conveniently arranged neatly in the one spot: your RSS reader.

I can’t stand to do this.

Why? I’m glad you asked.

The Old Testament

The Bible - The Word Of God

By Ronald Fabri

The Old  Testament

What’s this?

If there is one area of misguided theological thinking and confusion for Christian believers it is the acceptance and understanding of the Old Testament. Many believers, including pastors, teachers, priests etc., reject, partly or wholly, the Old Testament as being non-Christian or sub-Christian.

This point of view contends that Christ has fulfilled the Old Testament for us; therefore we do not need to adhere to its teaching, nor accept the Pentateuch, which contains the first five books of the Law, including the Ten Commandments. The Christian view of the Old Testament should be very much in line with Christ’s view of it. We are told by the Apostle Paul to imitate him as he also imitates Christ.  (see 1 Cor. 11:1).

It is quite clear in the Bible that Jesus Christ accepted the authority and validity of the entire Old Testament, and by imitating Him, we also must accept fully its authority and validity.

How to add a favicon to your Wordpress site

I remember when Favicons first started to appear. It’s so nice to reminisce on the development of the internet.

We should start this post with this: What’s a favicon?

The favicon is the little icon that appears alongside the address bar in most browsers, looks like this:

They make your site look that much better, more professional.

Next question: How do I get a favicon? (more…)

Not enough people realise that usually, if I write a blog, only half of that entry appears on the front page.

You can read the rest of the entry by clicking the Read On link at the bottom of the post, or by clicking the post title.

So I’ve changed the Read On link to be a little bigger and standoutish, so that you can all learn to use it. Even with posts like this!
