The Bible is the Inspired Word of God

The Bible – The Word Of God

By Ronald Fabri

The Bible is the Inspired Word of God

What’s this?

The Bible itself claims that it is a book fully inspired by God. The Bible dictionary defines the word inspired as “The special influence of the Holy Spirit guiding certain persons to speak and write what God wanted communicated to others, without suspending their individual activity or personality”.

An objection to a Christian view of the Bible is that it does not take into account human thought. This implies that the writer has been used as a machine rather than a human. In fact, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit applied His supernatural power to the writers of the Bible. It is clear though, that the writers concerned used their own minds in the process. Their personalities come through in the different styles of writing and their different approaches.  The writers of the Bible did not write by their own natural inspiration or by an act of human will, but as men moved by the Holy Spirit. King David said,

“The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue.” (2 Sam. 23:2)

The Spirit of the Lord is the author of the Bible, and man is the instrument used to write it. Therefore the Bible is the infallible Word of God; it is free from errors and absolutely trustworthy; Yet, the true believer must use his/her own mind to receive the truth from the Word of God by seriously studying the Bible and, more importantly, by seeking inspiration from the Holy Spirit.

“As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.” (1 John 2:27)
