Orange Adventure
So we were at Talia's uncle Paul's place today. He lives by Mount Coolum, and has a beautiful view of it.
He noticed a tiny orange dot on the side of the mountain. It had been there for a few weeks. Apparently, he'd gone up the side of the mountain a few times before, but couldn't ever find it.
It's pretty much impossible to see in that photo – we needed binoculars to see it anyway. So we decided to climb the mountain and go get it.
The plan was simple – Paul, Amon, some other kid and I would get to the top of the mountain, and Talia and Hayden would spot us from the house with binoculars, and guide us to the orange dot via mobile phone.
It took us about 20 minutes to get up, but it wasn't easy.
It was a nice view though…
So we got to the top, and with the help of Talia and Hayden, were guided a few hundred meters off the track, through the scrub, into the bush, where we found the evil orange dot. It was a stray kite.
And it was tangled pretty good in the top of a tree.
It took us about half an hour to get it down. We climbed the tree as far as we could and threw rocks at it, attacked it with sticks, anything we could think of to try and get it down. We got it eventually, with a bit of persistence.
Man and a challenge.
We saw a wallaby on the way back down.

Hey Luke,
This is a really interesting post because it tells a story. For some reason, the pictures would not display for me, except for the first one that shows a kite. If the pictures had displayed, I think it would have been a GREAT post, because it was easy to skim through, and after you mentioned that you were going to find out what the orange dot was, I just had to find out with you.
