The Real Christmas
We flew into Melbourne yesterday. It’s cold. Very cold.
And I have no internet.
At least, not on my laptop. I have internet explorer on a PC. I’m not game to download firefox in the house I’m staying in. So… limited internet. You won’t be reading this until I’m back on the 2nd or 3rd of Jan.
So, order of events:
Arrive at airport, uncle Phil takes Ben and I to uncle Greg’s place. The rest of the family goes to Nanna’s. We greet uncle Greg and Auntie Eyes (auntie Carol has glasses, we call her auntie eyes) and have 2 beers.
Next stop is Phil’s place, where Ben and I are staying. We put our bags in, and have another beer.
After that we went to Nanna and Pa’s place, for home-made pies and two glasses of wine.
The Carbis’ family can hold their alcohol much better than I can. And so they should, it’s a family tradition (apparently) to be blind from Christmas Eve through to boxing day.
I guess I don’t really fit in with this side of the family. Nevertheless, the next stop was the pub, where we witnessed countless beers and a woman beat up her male friend.
Back to Phil’s to sleep, woke up, called my fiance (the beautiful Talia, whom I love more than anything), opened our Christmas presents to each other, and cooked poached eggs.
It’s now Christmas day. It doesn’t feel like Christmas day. It actually snowed this morning! It last about 2 seconds, and was actually hale, not snow, but still! I’m in Melbourne, Australia, and it snowed on Christmas day.
I miss Talia a lot. I feel bad that she misses me too.
I’ll let you know what happens today. I think there may be a Christmas #3, if I get any more presents from Nanna/Pa and co.
Catch me later.
